Doula's for SF Low-Income
It is with great pleasure that I share the news of progress in the San Francisco birthing justice movement. Supervisor Malia Cohen and Mayor London Breed have announced a new program that will create access to doula services for low-income Black and Pacific Islander families. These families face the highest risk of poor perinatal outcomes and need support for healthy births. This program is one step toward addressing disparities and bringing justice to birthing.
Many thanks to Expecting Justice and SisterWeb for placing urgency on this issue. They have been taking action for racial equity in birth outcomes and assure the the voice of the voiceless is being heard.
