How Can Sound Heal?

I get a lot of raised eyebrows when people hear that I am certified in Sound, Voice, and Music Healing. They wonder "What does that mean?" and "How can sound heal?" The discussions are very engaing and allow me the chance to speak on something that is close to my heart. I have taken many different approaches to explain why it is logical for sound to heal, but my favorite is the one I'd like to share with you.

I want you to think of what you know to be an atom. Imagine the nuecleous made of protons and neutrons. Imagine the electron cloud (the ones that were once believed to arrange themselves in neat little orbits, but have recently been discovered to be constantly moving clouds which move from atom to atom with ease). At this atomic level there is motion and there is vibration. That means that every atom, every cell, every organ, every bit of matter is vibrating.

In fact the very phases of matter depend on vibration. With water we see when the vibration is the lowest it is in it's solid form, ice. When the vibration pick up through heat it turn to it's liquid form, water, and when it is moving at it's highest vibration it is in it's gas form as steam. The rate of the vibration determines in which way the matter will present itself on the larger physical level.

So when we take an organism like a human, which is a sonic, electro-magnetic form, sound can be used as instrument to make changes in the vibration. This is accomplished through a phenomena know was resonance. In physics resonance is defined as "the reinforcement or prolongation of sound by reflection from a surface or by the synchronous vibration of a neighboring object." In short this means that when two objects are vibrating near each other, the objects will synchronize in the same vibration.

This means that when you are experience dis-ease, or worrisome thoughts, or physical pain, that skewed vibration can be brought back "in tune" through the consumption or application of sound. When a sound healer does a session with a client, the goal is to come into resonance with that individual and assist them in finding a vibration of peace and progress.

As a sound healer I seek to assist other in using the various practices of sound for personal healing and development. Each person is their own symphony and can use voice, tones, humming, elongated tones, pre-recorded music and even silence to heal. So take a moment right now, plug your ears, close your eyes, and see if you can hear your inner vibrations. It is truly A Love Supreme.
